dbMotion establishes North American subsidiary
PHILADELPHIA – dbMotion, Ltd. announced the establishment of its North
American subsidiary, dbMotion Inc., registered in Delaware.
dbMotion Inc. is headed by Peter van der Grinten as General Manager. Mr.
van der Grinten has held senior management positions at numerous
healthcare software and services companies. He is joined by Mark Gross,
Senior Vice President of Strategy & Business Development, who brings to
dbMotion 30 years of experience in healthcare information technology in
the US, Canada and Europe.
“dbMotion’s experience in implementing large-scale networks for clinical
data-sharing positions us exceptionally well to bring our knowledge to
the U.S. and Canadian marketplaces,” said van der Grinten.
“By providing physicians with real-time information, when and where they
need it, this solution improves the quality of care in communities while
at the same time enabling a safer and more efficient practice of
medicine,”
The dbMotion solution enables clinical information to be gathered from
disparate and distributed computer systems to create a complete picture
of the patient’s medical history, in real-time and regardless of where
the clinical data is collected and stored.
This comprehensive medical picture contains the patient’s entire medical
history, including test results, treatments administered,
hospitalizations, patient complaints, etc.
Connecting care providers with comprehensive patient data is a primary
concern for both patients and healthcare providers since it ensures
better quality of care, shortens care cycles, reduces the number of
medical errors and drives efficiency in care-providing organizations.
The implementation of dbMotion’s solutions enable authorized medical
staff to retrieve clinical information on demand, subject to the
appropriate access authorizations. Its deployment is achieved without
the necessity of replacing existing information systems in hospitals,
clinics and institutes where it is installed.
dbMotion has been implemented for over four years in Israel’s largest
HMO, Clalit Health Services, that provides full health services to 3.7
million patients through 14 hospitals, 1,200 clinics and 80
laboratories. This network was recently joined by two of the largest and
most advanced hospitals in the Middle East, Sheba Medical Center in Tel
Aviv, and Rambam Medical Center in Haifa, both government-operated
organizations. Other prominent hospitals are expected to join this
network in the coming months.
dbMotion’s pioneering medical information integration solution was
recently recognized for its innovation and industry leadership by the
Microsoft Healthcare Users Group (MS-HUG) and Microsoft Corp. The
dbMotion Solution was selected as a finalist for the MS-HUG annual
awards in the category of Acute Care: Clinical/Patient Information
Systems; MS-HUG is a membership community of the Healthcare Information
and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).
Peter van der Grinten has served the healthcare industry as CEO, COO and
VP of R & D for numerous healthcare software and services companies
including: Quadramed, IMS Health, National Data Corporation, SAP, Oacis
Healthcare Systems and HBOC. Mr. van der Grinten’s key areas of
expertise include: Software Product Development, Professional Services
Management, CRM, International Operations, and Healthcare IT (Physician,
Hospital, and Pharmaceutical). Mr. van der Grinten has a B.S. in
Computer Science from Purdue University.

information technology in the US, Canada and Europe. Mr. Gross has held

Health Industry at IBM, Managing Partner of HCIT Practice at Ernst &
Young and Vice President and Managing Director of First Consulting
