SAP Labs Canada doubles its workforce in Montréal
MONTREAL – SAP Labs Canada, a division of SAP Canada Inc. announced that
it will expand its workforce at the company’s Montréal-based research
and development (R&D) centre.
SAP Labs Canada plans to hire 100 new software developers to meet the
rising demand for SAP Business Software solutions and innovation. The
new SAP Labs Canada hires will work with mySAP Business Suite and SAP
NetWeaver to design and develop cutting-edge business software products
and applications for a wide-range of industries.
The R&D centre is an integral part of SAP’s global development network
and increases SAP Labs Canada’s workforce to approximately 200
employees.
“SAP Labs Canada is the place where smart, motivated software developers
can put their careers on the fast track,” said Laure Le Bars, Managing
Director, SAP Labs Canada. “At SAP Labs Canada, Montreal, developers
will work with the most recognized business software solution suite in
the world – mySAP Business Suite. Developers will also have the variety
to work with SAP NetWeaver, SAP’s comprehensive integration and
application platform, enable continuous business innovation for
customers with SAP xApps, and work on wide-ranging business mandates and
projects for customers that include delivering results for business
analytics, financials, human capital management, operations, and
corporate services.”
Le Bars added, “Our work has resulted in the integration of new
technologies into basic business processes. For example, thanks to chips
and encoded tags placed in an advertisement, you will be able to point
your mobile phone to an ad on the bus or a billboard and instantaneously
retrieve information on the products or events advertised. You will then
be one button-push away from placing an order or buying a ticket. This
is no longer science fiction, it’s here. We have customers whose sales
people use BlackBerry wireless handheld devices to place orders or check
inventory availability in real-time.”
Peter Kirschbauer, a member of SAP’s Extended Management Board, said,
“With the recent successful completion of many product initiatives, SAP
Labs Canada has built on an already solid reputation. Highly skilled,
multicultural and multilingual, Montreal’s workforce is well prepared to
meet the global challenges of today’s business world. The city is a
cost-efficient, low-risk, and high-return location. Its position in the
North American Free Trade Zone, halfway between Silicon Valley and
Europe, culturally as well as geographically, makes it an ideal base
from which to conduct customer-driven product development and
enhancement.”
