Ken Tremblay to join PRHC as President
& CEO
PETERBOROUGH,
Ont. – The Board of Directors of the Peterborough Regional Health Centre
(PRHC) are pleased to announce that Ken Tremblay (pictured) will be the hospital’s
next President and CEO. Tremblay’s first day on the job will be February
1, 2010.
“We are very pleased to welcome Ken Tremblay to PRHC and to our
community,” said Barb Cameron, PRHC’s Board Chair. “His experience and
successes over his distinguished hospital career impressed the Board’s
search committee. We are confident he will provide the hospital with the
strong leadership it will need in the years to come.”
Ken Tremblay comes to PRHC from the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA)
where he has been President and CEO since 2003. Previously, he headed an
executive search practice for physicians and healthcare executives and
was also President and CEO of: St Joseph’s Hospital, Brantford; York
Central Hospital, Richmond Hill; and, St. Boniface General Hospital, a
teaching hospital in Winnipeg.
Tremblay led CKHA to become one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers and a best
practices spotlight organization with the RNAO. He has been instrumental
in establishing several shared services organizations including CHIS - a
multi-hospital IT company providing technology solutions within LHIN 1;
forging innovative partnerships with community partners; commissioning
new facilities; culture-shaping and steering CKHA through significant
financial challenges.
More recently, Tremblay was a peer reviewer for Quinte Healthcare and a
member of the recent operational review team at Cambridge Memorial
Hospital.
“I look forward to joining Peterborough Regional Health Centre at an
important time in its evolution and maturation,” said Tremblay. “While
healthcare’s challenges are both complex and numerous, all the people I
have met during the search process are genuinely excited about
harnessing the full potential of the organization’s redevelopment within
the community and beyond. I appreciate the selection committee’s
confidence in my leadership and experience to assist in that goal.”
Ken Tremblay takes over from outgoing President and CEO Paul Darby who
is retiring at the end of this year. “We are grateful for the leadership
Paul has provided as PRHC built and moved into its new facilities,” said
Cameron. “Preparations are being made to say ‘thank you’ and wish Paul
well on his retirement. The transition will be a smooth one,” she added.
A national search process by Ray & Berndtson, led to Ken Tremblay’s
appointment.
“Consultation meetings were held with hospital leaders, staff, and
physicians to assist in PRHC’s search,” said Kenneth Powell, Past Chair
and Chair of the Selection Committee. “In addition, other stakeholders
in the community were engaged, including business, community and
political leaders plus those involved in community healthcare. Members
of the general public were also asked for input via an online survey.”
Ken Tremblay received a Bachelor of Science in Physiology and
Pharmacology from the University of Western Ontario in 1978 and a Master
of Science in Health Administration from the University of Toronto in
1980. Ken, a Certified Health Executive with the Canadian College of
Health Services Executives and a Fellow in the American Colleges of
Healthcare Executives, has many publications to his credit and is a
member of the adjunct faculty of the University of Toronto’s Department
of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation in the Faculty of Medicine.
