Patient flow
Medworxx announces first Quebec
customer
TORONTO – Medworxx Inc., a provider
of healthcare solutions for decision support, compliance and education,
announced its first Quebec customer, Centre de santé et de services
sociaux du Lac-des-Deux-Montagnes (CSSS), a health and social services
center. This CSSS will implement the Medworxx Clinical Utilization
Management System (UMS), known in the Quebec marketplace as Med-Clinique.
The Medworxx UMS monitors patient stay, highlights care delays, assesses
discharge readiness, provides consistency in the care process and an
understanding of when the patient should be discharged, with no
compromise to patient safety. Medworxx UMS is being used at over 100
hospitals across Canada, improving patient flow and utilization of
hospital resources.
Medworxx’ strategic partner for Quebec, MédiaMed Technologies, was
instrumental in the sale of the system and will work with CSSS to
implement the solution. All of the beds in the hospital will ultimately
be managed by Medworxx UMS. There is a phased implementation plan over 5
years, beginning with the Medical/Surgical beds. Additional beds and
criteria sets will be included over time.
“With UMS, we help our clients to increase their efficiency and improve
the quality of care they provide. This support is even more important
during these times with the economic challenges we all have to face.
This first UMS implementation at CSSS du Lac-des-Deux-Montagnes is an
important step for all Quebec health organizations because it leads the
way for better and more relevant use of hospital resources,” said Dr
Jean Mireault, Chairman of the Board and Vice-president Clinical
Affairs, MédiaMed Technologies.
The Medworxx UMS is available in both English and French, which should
lead to further expansion in Quebec, Medworxx said. The French version
of the product has been developed with input from the New Brunswick
Department of Health. Medworxx UMS has been implemented province-wide in
New Brunswick for several years.
“We are extremely excited to welcome our first Quebec customer to the
Medworxx family,” said Dan Matlow, President & CEO, Medworxx. “We look
forward to building on the success we have had in New Brunswick and
significantly expanding our footprint in Quebec. We believe there is a
tremendous need for this application in the Quebec marketplace.”
About CSSS du Lac-des-Deux-Montagnes
The CSSS du Lac-des-Deux-Montagnes, a health and social services centre,
was formed in July 2004 by the merger of the St. Eustache Hospital, CLSC
Jean-Olivier-Chénier, a local community services centre, and the two
public long-term care facilities in St. Eustace and Mirabel. This CSSS
provides the leadership for the delivery of a local network of health
and social services in the region, just north-west of Montreal. To
accomplish this, it coordinates the activities of all the providers that
have an impact on health and social services, to avoid duplication of
effort and to ensure that the end user receives the right service, at
the right time, at the right place, by the most appropriate provider.
The underlying values of the organization are: a humanistic approach;
the continuing search for quality; relationships based on trust and a
guarantee of commitment. With a focus on better health, the 2,400
employees and doctors, as well as the 180 volunteers all concentrate
their efforts towards the fulfillment of the mission of the CSSS in its
four facilities. For more information, visit
