Maximus acquires Canadian-based
Deltaware
RESTON, Va. – Maximus, a leading
provider of government services, announced that it has acquired P.E.I.-based
DeltaWare Systems, Inc., a premier developer of health administration
management systems for the government healthcare market.
DeltaWare recorded $9.8 million in revenue in fiscal 2009. The
consideration paid was approximately $10 million , with additional
payments contingent upon future financial performance
Medigent, DeltaWare’s cornerstone eHealth software, offers a fully
integrated suite of eHealth products that can be used independently or
in combination to offer advanced electronic healthcare solutions.
Medigent enables the exchange and management of electronic medical and
health records, including pharmacy, medical, vital statistics, medical
travel, dental and drug claims adjudication, extended benefits, and Drug
Information System (DIS).
The Medigent solution delivers efficiencies and cost savings in the
overall health delivery system, and gives government clients flexibility
in selecting their delivery model, from turnkey license to program-level
business process outsourcing (BPO).
The platform is deployed in nine of Canada’s provinces and territories,
including British Columbia, where Maximus and Deltaware are partners on
the province’s enrollment system upgrade. DeltaWare’s core systems
adhere to the emerging medical standards in both Canada and the United
States, with the Medigent DIS being the first to implement the new
pan-Canadian clinical messaging standard (HL7v3) in an operational
setting. DeltaWare is a Canada Health Infoway ‘preferred’ DIS provider
and its implementations are fundable by CHI.
The acquisition is part of the company’s long-term strategy to broaden
its core health services offerings by expanding its BPO capabilities in
the emerging eHealth, DIS, and third party claims administration markets
in North America and abroad. With this acquisition, Maximus will further
strengthen its leading position in the administration of public health
programs and extend its capabilities into important adjacent markets.
“DeltaWare and Maximus have enjoyed a rewarding relationship in British
Columbia, and their products complement our core health and human
services offerings,” commented Maximus CEO Richard A. Montoni. “Maximus
is currently deploying DeltaWare’s Medigent product suite in British
Columbia to administer the province’s enrollment system. The addition of
this capability will significantly improve our cross-selling
opportunities into new markets.”
