CHIEF expands, hits membership
milestone
TORONTO – Just one
year after its launch, CHIEF: Canada’s Health Informatics Executive
Forum is celebrating the milestone of reaching membership of 50 CIOs and
senior executives. The organization develops leadership skills, offers a
service program, institute and membership program.
“Due to the
unprecedented response to membership and the sheer number of
applications received in our first year, CHIEF has instituted a `by
invitation-only’ process for our second year,” commented Heather Jones
(pictured), Executive Director, CHIEF. “This is to ensure our Forum
maintains its quality, collegiality and top executive focus.”
Membership in CHIEF includes CIOs, CEOs of eHealth agencies and
Assistant Deputy Ministers (ADM) of health ministries from jurisdictions
across Canada. Plans are already under way to evolve CHIEF services as a
response to the broadening executive member base.
“This past year was particularly challenging for health informatics
executives as they dealt with financial constraints, tremendous scrutiny
related to provincial auditors’ reports and more,” said Linda Miller,
Chair, CHIEF Advisory Committee.
“CHIEF has filled a longstanding need for these leaders by bringing them
together with their peers to focus on issues that are unique to their
world,” said Miller. “Whether it’s delving into the anatomy of a federal
audit or sharing best practices on risk management, CHIEF provides
access to thought leaders, expert-level knowledge and other important
resources to support the members.”
CHIEF’s 3rd semi-annual members-only symposium will take place at the
e-Health 2010: From Investment to Impact conference on May 30th. As a
highlight, CHIEF will present health informatics visionary Grad Conn,
Senior Director of Microsoft Research Health Solutions Group, who will
provide varying perspectives from Clinical, Management and IT
standpoints.
CHIEF Institute members are:
• Borden Ladner Gervais
• Research In Motion
• TELUS Health Solutions
• Cerner
• Wairever, Inc.
• Nightingale Informatix
• C&D Strategic Consulting
CHIEF welcomes 10 Institute members each year. A few spaces remain for
2010/2011 for innovative health informatics solution providers who wish
to expand their business development horizons among Canada’s foremost
CIOs, CEOs and ADMs.
