PatientOrderSets.com wins tender for 5 hospitals
TORONTO – Canadian-owned and operated PatientOrderSets.com has won a major contract to supply its comprehensive order set program to five hospitals in Southern Ontario. The hospitals are: Humber River Regional Hospital, Markham Stouffville Hospital, Southlake Regional Health Centre, Stevenson Memorial Hospital and York Central Hospital. This brings the total number of Canadian hospitals using the innovative and cost-effective PatientOrderSets.com system to 140.
Order sets are electronically generated, detailed checklists that allow doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals to quickly, easily and legibly specify appropriate treatments for hundreds of medical conditions in all parts of a hospital.
Hospitals using PatientOrderSets.com solutions have measureable improvements in patient safety, quality of care, reduced patient length-of-stay and reduced rates of re-admission to hospital.
PatientOrderSets.com provides its client hospitals with a web-based, comprehensive order set product that can be customized, deployed and shared within the entire organization. Hospitals deploy order sets through Entry Point, PatientOrderSets.com’s advanced software platform for electronic order set completion.
In addition, PatientOrderSet.com client hospitals are part of a network of 140 healthcare organizations which work directly with peer hospitals, clinicians, specialty medical societies and other health-care stakeholders to share order sets and maintain evidence-based best practices. PatientOrderSets.com is unique in offering simple, reliable technology, comprehensive and unbiased evidence-based content and an experienced team of professionals.
Physicians have access to on-the-spot electronic guidance through the Links-to-Evidence feature on order sets, which provides hyperlinks to clinical research, national guidelines and quality control measures regarding optimal tests, medications and procedures. This system improves patient outcomes by improving the ordering of correct treatments and tests, saving time and resources and reducing errors through enhanced communication between health-care team members.
“We’re delighted to welcome these five newest hospitals to our PatientOrderSets.com network,” said Dr. Chris O’Connor, founder of PatientOrderSets.com. “Our order set product is a unique, Canadian solution. Unlike some systems that require more time, effort or resources on the part of doctors or hospitals, our solution saves time in treating patients while at the same time improving patient outcomes and saving hospitals money by allowing patients to be treated and released more quickly.”
