Momentum Healthware invests $10 million in software R&D

WINNIPEG – Momentum Healthware, Inc., a developer of healthcare solutions in Canada and the United States, has committed $10 million to a research and development initiative over the next three years to optimize its products for Microsoft .NET technologies.

This investment is part of Momentum’s ongoing commitment to improve the quality of care through software innovation, the company said.

Momentum Healthware is a Microsoft Gold Certified software developer and will transform its entire line-up of clinical, billing, financial, specialty systems, and decision support applications to the Microsoft .NET Framework.

“The information and economic challenges in healthcare are urgent, and we intend to address them head-on,” said Chuck LaFleche (pictured at left), chief executive officer for Momentum. “The transformation of our products will enable greater connectivity of information, transactions, people, and devices through web services and portal innovation. We will continue our pursuit of information collaboration for medical professionals, while driving ease-of-deployment, ease-of-use, productivity, and cost-of-ownership benefits.”

This announcement comes on the heels of Momentum’s record-setting financial results for its fiscal year ending March 31, 2005. These results were fueled by several large engagements with U.S. long-term care organizations and Canadian regional health authorities.
