Vancouver Coastal awards contract to
Sentillion
ANDOVER, Mass. – Sentillion, Inc., a leading provider of identity and
access management solutions for the healthcare industry, announced that
Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) has selected Sentillion’s Vergence
product suite to integrate information across its 556 locations,
including acute, residential and community health care facilities.
Vergence will enable authorized clinical users to securely access
patient information from any VCH facility, regardless of where the
information is
located.
The health authority will use Vergence for single sign-on, single
patient selection, and privacy auditing to provide its healthcare
providers with fast access to patient information in a secure manner. In
addition, VCH will use Vergence to provide role-based access, giving
users access to only those applications they have permission to use
based upon their role in that facility.
“Our goal is to support healthcare providers in their decision-making
processes by giving them secure single sign-on access to more complete
clinical information,” said Greg Feltmate, chief information officer,
VCH.
“Sentillion’s Vergence provides extensive measures to ensure that the
right patient information is accessed by the right people as required
during care.”
Since its launch into Canada last year, Sentillion has also announced
the signing of a standing agreement for the Vergence product suite by
Contract Management Services (CMS). CMS is the purchasing agency for all
New Brunswick Health Authorities. Under this agreement all 51 facilities
within New Brunswick can purchase Sentillion’s Vergence technology,
which includes modules for provisioning, single sign-on, single patient
selection and strong authentication with Identix BioLogon and Ensure
Xyloc.
The contract between VCH and Sentillion is compliant with British
Columbia’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act that
ensures all patient information is protected by tough new privacy
measures, which are among the strongest in Canada. This compliance was
crucial in establishing the contract.
“Sentillion’s unique set of products address the specific access,
security, and auditing requirements associated with patient privacy in
Canadian healthcare organizations,” said Robert Seliger, president and
CEO of Sentillion. “The health organizations we are working with
recognize the value of ensuring that their existing investments in
electronic health record solutions are fully utilized. We look forward
to working with Vancouver Coastal Health to help them meet their
electronic health record initiatives.”
For its part, Vancouver Coastal Health is responsible for the delivery
of about $1.9 billion in public, acute, and residential healthcare
services to more than one million residents in the cities of Vancouver,
Richmond, North Vancouver and West Vancouver, 13 other municipalities
and regional districts and 15 First Nation communities.
It is one of five regional authorities (plus one provincial health
authority) serving 16 health service delivery areas throughout British
Columbia.
