AHSC chooses Eclipsys as part of
province-wide EHR
SAINT JOHN, New Brunswick – The Atlantic Health
Sciences Corporation (AHSC) announced an agreement to implement Eclipsys
Sunrise Clinical Manager and its integrated modules, including Sunrise
Acute Care, Sunrise Critical Care and Sunrise Emergency Care.
Atlantic Health Sciences selected the Eclipsys clinical information
system to better address multiple patient-safety and electronic health
record initiatives.
According to a release from the company, Sunrise Clinical Manager will
provide clinicians at AHSC with an integrated electronic health record
across all care venues within its region for improved access to patient
information and to foster improved interdisciplinary collaboration.
Additionally, Atlantic Health Sciences’ clinicians will utilize Sunrise
Clinical Manager’s evidence-based clinical decision support
capabilities, both at the point-of-care and other points of
decision-making to improve the patient care experience.
Sunrise Clinical Manager’s computerized physician order entry (CPOE)
features will help Atlantic Health Sciences improve outcomes by having
its clinicians follow established procedures through customized order
sets, while also reducing the potential for avoidable medical errors.
AHSC’s clinicians will also have remote access to the system so they can
easily use their personal computers or wireless, handheld devices and a
secure Web portal to access patient information and enter orders from
their offices or other remote locations.
Atlantic Health Sciences will also leverage Eclipsys’ proven
implementation methodology, which focuses on achieving rapid, high
physician adoption of its solutions to ensure the maximum potential for
improving outcomes.
“Eclipsys scored highest in the selection criteria during the Request
for Proposal process. I am impressed by its organizational commitment to
deliver solutions that help healthcare organizations deliver improved
patient outcomes,” said Derrick Jardine, Atlantic Health Sciences’ chief
information officer. “Improved patient safety across the continuum of
care is our number-one goal for this project. By implementing Sunrise
Clinical Manager’s advanced capabilities for CPOE and evidence-based
clinical decision support, our clinicians will have the tools they need
to provide the best possible care.”
“This was a highly competitive process and being selected by such a
prestigious Canadian healthcare provider is a significant win for
Eclipsys and demonstrates the momentum of our advanced clinical
information solutions in the market,” said R. Andrew Eckert, Eclipsys
president and chief executive officer. “We look forward to engaging with
Atlantic Health Sciences and implementing an information solution that
addresses the needs of AHSC’s clinicians to help them succeed in its
many patient safety initiatives.”
