REGINA, Sask. – The Pasqua Hospital in Regina now has a new Interventional Radiology (IR) suite that opened on Monday, Feb. 14.
The Hospitals of Regina Foundation (HRF) funded $2.2 million to the IR suite to increase capacity for the essential service. This addition is the second IR suite in Regina that is expected to help with wait times.

MARKHAM, Ont. – An emergency room doctor at Markham Stouffville Hospital is leading a team of physicians that is training other clinicians in worn-torn Yemen in the use of handheld ultrasound. Due to the pandemic, they’ve been using telehealth to train and support the clinicians in Yemen.
“Initially, we were supposed to actually fly in and bring the devices with us for an initial one-week training period, but then, the pandemic kicked in just as we got approval for the grant,” Dr. William Cherniak (pictured) told CBC News.

MOOSE FACTORY, ONT. – The Weeneebayko General Hospital, serving patients at James Bay and Hudson’s Bay, has become the first hospital in Canada to implement a portable MRI scanner for a project assessing the technology in a clinical setting. The hospital went live with the Hyperfine Swoop, a scanner that can be wheeled to the bedside and plugged into a standard electrical outlet. It is operated remotely through an accompanying iPad.
