According to the Hypertension Canada Guidelines to Physicians, patients should record their numbers four times daily over a seven-day period when monitoring blood pressure at home. To help doctors adhere to the new protocol, BIOS Medical has launched a first-of-its-kind line of portable blood pressure monitors that are the gold standard in home monitoring, delivering accurate readings in accordance with Hypertension Canada Guidelines to Physicians.
Called the BIOS Diagnostics Protocol 7D (short for seven day), the line is more advanced than traditional blood pressure monitors as it helps diagnose hypertension by enabling patients to take two accurate readings both in the morning and evening from the comfort of home for seven consecutive days. The software then automatically averages the results over the course of the week, clearly presenting the patient’s data for review by a medical professional. Any measurement omissions or inconsistencies by the patient are highlighted so that the physician can take this information into account when assessing the overall data.
The units’ data cannot be tampered with, so the records will always be accurate for the doctor’s analysis.
Available in two different models – the Protocol 7D and the Protocol 7D MII – the BIOS Diagnostics Protocol 7D monitors can also be switched to traditional blood pressure monitor “general” mode, as opposed to seven-day mode, if the user desires.
The Protocol 7D model uniquely features an alarm that reminds patients to monitor at appropriate times, as well as a memory function that confirms protocols were accurately followed. The Protocol 7D MII model is the first BIOS Diagnostics blood pressure monitor to have Bluetooth capability, enabling users to remotely send their 7D readings to their doctor for immediate analysis.
The BIOS Diagnostics Protocol 7D line will be available starting April 2017 at pharmacies nationally, including London Drugs, Shoppers Drug Mart, IDA, Rexall, Guardian, Pharmasave, Pharmachoice, Shoppers Home Health Care, Super Thrifty, The Medicine Shoppe, Pharmaprix, Remedy Rx, Proxim, Jean Coutu, Uniprix, Familiprix and Brunet.
Suggested retail price is $119.99 for Protocol 7D and $139.99 for Protocol 7D MII.
