Wellsoft EDIS selected by Grand River Hospital

November 16, 2016

jill-schitka

KITCHENER, Ont. – Grand River Hospital announced that Wellsoft’s Emergency Department Information System (EDIS) was selected by Grand River Hospital (GRH) for care in the Lazaridis Family Foundation Emergency Department. GRH, a 567 bed hospital located in Kitchener, Ontario, provides care for more than 65,000 emergency department patients each year.

The new system was made possible through a generous donation from Mike and Ophelia Lazaridis. Implementation planning is underway.

Wellsoft EDIS will integrate with GRH’s existing and future clinical information systems. Features scheduled for implementation include patient tracking, clinical documentation, CPOE and support for CTAS and CEDIS requirements.

The selection of Wellsoft EDIS will help GRH realize their goals of facilitating the delivery of patient care, conforming to relevant data interoperability standards and ensuring the secure availability of relevant healthcare information.

With Wellsoft EDIS implemented, GRH anticipates the following outcomes in the Lazaridis Family Foundation Emergency Department:

  • Improved care times of ED length of stay for all CTAS categories
  • Improved communication with primary care physicians
  • Improved transfer of care and experience for specific populations
  • Increased productivity and efficiency
  • Decreased unit costs

“Grand River Hospital works hard to improve the care of patients and their experiences in our emergency department. We are confident Wellsoft’s patient software solution will offer our care providers faster and more accurate information with regard to patient needs. It will help improve quality of care, productivity and efficiency. The Wellsoft system will also enable seamless information transfer between emergency and services such as laboratory, medical imaging and pharmacy,” said Jill Schitka (pictured), GRH’s emergency department program director.

Dr. John Santmann, president of Wellsoft Corporation, commented, “We are excited to work with Grand River Hospital and welcome them to the Wellsoft family. We look forward to helping them improve their emergency department efficiency and achieve their strategic goals.”
