New president and CEO appointed at Bruyere

January 20, 2016

Daniel LevacOTTAWA – Bruyère has announced the appointment of Mr. Daniel Levac (pictured) as Bruyère’s new president and CEO. Mr. Levac has been a senior leader at Bruyère since 2006. He joined Bruyère as the senior vice-president, corporate services and chief financial officer, and through the Bruyère Legacy Plan, became executive vice-president and chief operating officer in January 2015.

Bruyère excels in the provision of evidence-based healthcare and services for the vulnerable and medically complex, with a focus on persons who require sub-acute, geriatric or palliative care.

Mr. Levac is a chartered professional accountant and holds Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Administration degrees from the University of Ottawa. He is also an award-winning part-time professor with the Masters in Health Administration program at the University of Ottawa’s Telfer School of Management.

Before coming to Bruyère, Mr. Levac held various leadership positions within the healthcare, education and government sectors.

As president and CEO at one of the largest healthcare centres of its kind in Canada, Mr. Levac will be instrumental in positioning Bruyère to play a key role in addressing the aging population’s healthcare needs within the Champlain region. Mr. Levac is a key player to build on Bruyère’s strengths and address challenges as the organization continues to care for the most vulnerable and medically-complex in our community.

The board thanked Mr. Bernard Blais for his leadership and contribution over the last three years.
