HPHA and AMGH introduce new physician IT leads

February 1, 2017

Dr Bob DavisDr Paul GillSTRATFORD, Ont. – Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA) and Alexandra Marine and General Hospital (AMGH) are pleased to begin the engagement of two forward-thinking physicians to lead the charge for physician EHR adoption across the five hospital sites.

Dr. Bob Davis (pictured on left) and Dr. (pictured on right) have recently joined both organizations as the “Regional Physician Technology Leads” or RPTLs.

Dr. Bob Davis is an active family physician at the Happy Valley Family Health Team in St. Marys, Ont. Dr. Davis has had significant experience in EHR development and implementation for many years. As a key member of the PatientKeeper implementation team, a web-based software platform that offers physicians a single view of their patients’ information integrated from multiple systems across our hospitals, Dr. Davis was a key driver of further physician EHR adoption across the hospital sites.

He brings a wealth of experience and leadership to this transformational role. “I am very happy and excited to be working alongside Dr. Paul Gill in our new roles,” says Dr. Davis. “Further enhancing the excellent healthcare already provided by our five sites through the implementation of the available technology will, in my opinion, take us to a whole new level of care.”

Dr. Paul Gill is a family physician with active privileges at AMGH and HPHA Clinton Public Hospital Site. Dr. Gill has a deep level of exposure to electronic healthcare initiatives. As a key member of Maitland Valley Family Health Team, Dr. Gill is critical in driving EHR adoption amongst his colleagues.

As a SWLHIN Primary Care Co-Lead, he brings a regional vision and leadership to this new role. “Integrating the physician voice into the planning of any future EMR state has the potential to enhance patient care, provider satisfaction, and safety,” says Dr. Gill. “I’m personally thrilled to have this opportunity!”

As RPTL’s, these physicians will help shape the strategic direction for HPHA and AMGH’s physician technology adoption. They will provide leadership on the development and deployment of new computer technology across the hospital facilities and spearhead physician IT and informatics strategies.
