July 13, 2022
MONTREAL – Lucie Tremblay (pictured), who has served as director of nursing for CIUSSS West-Central Montreal since 2019, will become associate CEO with the retirement of Francine Dupuis on October 1. In making the announcement, Dr. Lawrence Rosenberg, the CIUSSS’s president and CEO, noted that as director of nursing and, more recently, as director of vaccination during the COVID-19 pandemic, “Ms. Tremblay has demonstrated her considerable skill at guiding many members of staff through highly challenging circumstances across our CIUSSS.
“In all of these situations, she has acted with speed, confidence, compassion and professional insight. At the same time, Ms. Tremblay has consistently demonstrated her deep concern for our healthcare users and has made their needs the driving force behind her decisions.”
Dr. Rosenberg also expressed his appreciation to Ms. Dupuis for her contribution to the CIUSSS over the past seven years. “From the moment our network came into existence in 2015, she worked tirelessly to unite our many facilities into a single cohesive unit whose strong, collaborative qualities were especially evident and of crucial importance during the pandemic.”
Ms. Tremblay brings to her new position a wealth of experience in senior nursing roles and as a leader in her field on a province-wide scale.
During her career, she has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Nursing Leadership Award from the Canadian College of Health Leaders and Le prix Florence, Excellence des soins, one of the most prestigious honours of the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec. Just before joining the CIUSSS, Ms. Tremblay had served for six years as president of the Ordre.
From 1998 to 2012, she was director of nursing and specialized services at Donald Berman Maimonides Geriatric Centre. As well, from 2005 to 2012, she served in the same role on an interim basis at Donald Berman Jewish Eldercare Centre.
Having begun her career in 1984, Ms. Tremblay held senior nursing positions at the J. Henri Charbonneau Hospital in Montreal and at the Alfred Desrochers Long-Term Care Facility in Montreal prior to her more recent roles.
Throughout her career, Ms. Tremblay has made numerous presentations on nursing, geriatrics, chronic illness, management and leadership at conferences around the world. She has also co-authored many articles and chapters in journals and books on nursing.
