Elevating the role of supply chain in healthcare

August 17, 2022

Russell SchusterAl-Azhar KhalfanTORONTO – Supply Chain Management Association Ontario (SCMAO), Canada’s largest community and knowledge hub for supply chain professionals, has partnered with Cardinal Health Canada to develop foundational educational initiatives for healthcare sector supply chain professionals.

As Canada’s leading provider of healthcare products, services and solutions to hospitals, long-term care facilities, distributors, and retailers, Cardinal Health is uniquely positioned to be the exclusive partner of SCMAO on their healthcare sector supply chain initiatives.

These initiatives include: Leadership Series 3.0: Healthcare Supply Chain & Procurement on September 15, 2022; Healthcare Sector Live Chat Series, to be launched later this year; as well the new Healthcare Supply Chain Certification Program.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has shed light on the critical importance of supply chain as an essential element of patient care. Healthcare supply chain can and must work together with the healthcare system to ensure patient care is not dependent upon the availability of supplies,” said Russell Schuster (pictured on left), president, Cardinal Health Canada.

“The collaboration with Cardinal Health Canada helps us take our knowledge-sharing and continued learning to the next level – elevating our healthcare supply chain professionals and helping them navigate uncertain circumstances with preparedness and continued resilience,” said Al-Azhar Khalfan (pictured on right), president & CEO, SCMAO.

Mr. Schuster believes this new collaboration will allow Cardinal Health Canada to utilize their global healthcare knowledge, coupled with SCMAO’s vast membership across Canada, to continue to elevate the role of supply chain in healthcare while building a stronger knowledge base that drives ongoing improvement in the healthcare ecosystem.
