Martin Gurbin to lead Verv Technologies
September 21, 2022
SUDBURY, Ont. – Verv Technologies has announced the appointment of Martin (Marty) Gurbin (pictured) as CEO. Marty brings with him a deep understanding of global healthcare and health innovation, emerging health technologies, and an international network from 20-plus years in healthcare and startups.
Verv is focused on creating the first of its kind consumer-oriented, affordable, high-quality blood chemistry analyser with disposable tests for home use, that will help individuals measure a wide range of analytes (i.e. cholesterol, vitamin levels, hormones). Verv will empower consumers, help them take control of their own health, transform access to blood testing, and improve timely decision-making between consumers and their healthcare providers.
Gurbin has assumed this position at an exciting time in the company’s transformation, given the recent investment in Verv, from UK-based multinational Randox Laboratories.
“Marty has been recruited to take Verv to the next level, and help us become a successful health-tech company,” says Jeff Sutton, president and founder of Verv Technologies. “Now is the perfect time, as our momentum builds, leaving me to focus on our technology, biotests, and certifications.”
Sutton will now shift into the role of chief technology officer (CTO), to focus on acceleration of Verv’s core intellectual property and blood-testing technologies.
“Verv has made great advances under Jeff’s leadership, overcoming major technical hurdles and once our core product is complete, we will open an exciting, new market in consumer health biochemistry monitoring,” says Gurbin. “I look forward to this incredible opportunity to help build partnerships and create value across the global ecosystem and make a difference to the lives of many.”
