Dr. Alan Forster joins McGill as director of innovation

MONTREAL – McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) and the Research Institute of the MUHC (RI-MUHC) have announced the appointment of Dr. Alan Forster (pictured) as director of Innovation, Transformation and Clinical Performance. Dr. Forster was previously The Ottawa Hospital’s executive vice president, chief innovation and quality officer.
On his Linkedin page, Dr. Forster said: “I am humbled to be joining organizations with such a global impact and reputation; and I am very excited to be joining the incredible teams at McGill, the MUHC, and the RI-MUHC who are working to make healthcare and society stronger. It is truly an amazing opportunity and a great honour to work with such inspiring people.”
For their part, the Montreal-based organizations said: “Maximizing our impact, adapting to changes, facing universal challenges and seizing opportunities are integral to the mission of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) and the Research Institute of the MUHC (RI-MUHC). Becoming a data-driven organization is essential to our success.
“We have therefore added a new MUHC directorate, reporting to the president and executive director but with formal ties to the Research Institute of the MUHC, and named Dr. Alan Forster to lead it as director of Innovation, Transformation and Clinical Performance.
“We would like to thank the Montreal General Hospital Foundation for their financial support. This important contribution will enable us to pursue the MUHC’s innovation efforts.”
Dr. Forster will be responsible for developing their strategic and operational vision for innovation and clinical performance. His role will also include improvement in the quality and safety of care.
