Intelerad offers 12 months of free clinical AI

MONTREAL – To allow radiology departments to better assess the value of AI, Intelerad recently announced it will cover the cost of 12 months of usage of AI apps from global leader Zebra Medical, from RSNA 2019 to RSNA 2020, when used by Intelerad’s customers.
AI can be used with Intelerad’s new Odyssey solution, which harnesses the power of artificial intelligence and the technology behind the Intelerad Clario SmartWorklist to offer an improved workflow management solution.
The Odyssey clinical AI engine is powered by Zebra-med’s AI1 “all-in-one” bundle of FDA-cleared AI applications. In conjunction with Odyssey Navigator, users can configure which studies are sent to AI1.
The AI system analyzes the images and automatically returns the findings to the Clario Smart Worklist, which then escalates the study to the radiologist’s attention.

In 2019, Intelerad added 33 customers to its global roster. Recent client wins include: MIC Medical Imaging (Canada), for Clario SmartWorklist and Odyssey; Western Australia Department of Health (Australia), as part of a consortium with Canon Medical & Vital; Humber, Coast and Vale region of NHS (U.K.), for InteleOne XE.
With Odyssey, Intelerad and Zebra are removing two critical barriers to AI accessibility: the prohibitive cost of AI platforms and the need for demonstrated impact prior to committing resources to AI. Through a pay-per-study model and by eliminating the high, upfront flat-fee models typically offered in the market, Intelerad intends to encourage AI adoption by healthcare service providers of all sizes.
Odyssey Navigator gives DI departments and clinics control over which cases are sent for clinical AI processing. Navigator’s flexible orchestration capabilities augment radiologists’ workflows when AI processing is needed while avoiding costs when it is not.
Unlike traditional clinical AI platforms which send all cases for AI processing, Odyssey’s Navigator offers rule-based configuration at the practice/facility level to allow imaging professionals to control which cases are sent to the clinical AI engine, including:
- Time of day
- TAT thresholds
- Sub-specialist shortages/availability (for example, to assign spine fractures to an MSK radiologist when available)
- End-of-shift verification (for example if the worklist contains a large number of chest X-rays near the end of a shift, define a rule to process just those cases to ensure timely identification of potentially critical findings).
