TORONTO – The OntarioMD Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Sarah Hutchison (pictured) has been appointed Chief Executive Officer effective August 1, 2014. Sarah has over 25 years of progressive experience within organized medicine, and is known as a leader in Ontario’s e-health environment.
She brings an extensive background and knowledge of e-health, and has been effective in ensuring that physicians, as trusted providers to patients, are central to the system discussions about the evolution of e-health in Ontario.
Sarah has enjoyed a successful and challenging career with the OMA since joining the organization in 2001. She has taken on progressively senior leadership roles through the years, including Director, Professional Services, to Executive Director, Information Services and most recently to Chief Information Officer and Executive Director, Engagement and Program Delivery.
In each of these positions, she played a significant liaison role between the OMA and OntarioMD. Before joining the OMA, she worked for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
Sarah holds a Masters, Health Administration degree from the University of Toronto, along with an LLM, Health Law from York University and is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems.

OntarioMD was established by the Ontario Medical Association and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care in 2004 to work closely with physicians to help them transition from paper records to Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and to provide them with easy access to information and resources to improve the quality of patient care and practice efficiency. Since 2004, OntarioMD has been managing the EMR Adoption Program, which is funded by eHealth Ontario. The program assists physicians to acquire, implement and adopt health IT.
