Richard Alvarez to leave post as Infoway chief

March 5, 2014

TORONTO – After 10 years at the helm, Richard Alvarez (pictured) announced that he will step down from his role as President and CEO on August 1, 2014. Chair of the Infoway board of directors, Graham Scott, said: “Richard has been an extraordinary CEO for Infoway over the last decade. His leadership has shaped its strong culture, built collaborative relationships with stakeholders across the country, and achieved important results for Canadians.”

Scott added, “On behalf of the Board, I would like to express my deep appreciation to Richard for ensuring that Infoway is in a sound and stable position, setting the stage for further innovation in digital health in the years ahead. As part of his legacy, Richard leaves us with a timely and innovative strategy to guide this work and a strong and resilient team to carry our mission forward.”

In an email message to friends and colleagues, Alvarez said: “I am writing to let you know that I will be launching a new release, as we say in the IT business, in my life later this summer. I am stepping down as President and CEO of Canada Health Infoway, effective August 1, 2014. I am grateful for being given the opportunity to have led this great organization over the past ten years and particularly proud of our accomplishments and the positive impact we have had on Canada’s Health Care system.”

Infoway’s Board of Directors is beginning the search for a new President and CEO who will lead the next phase of the organization’s journey.
