Hospitals concerned about clinics poaching staff

Anthony DaleTORONTO – Preventing the poaching of staff is the top concern hospitals have about a new system of private clinics that will be used to cut the surgical backlog, the head of the province’s hospital association said. Anthony Dale (pictured), the president of the Ontario Hospital Association, said there will be many risks along the way as Ontario looks to private facilities to tackle the backlog that currently stands at 206,000 procedures. No place for faxes in healthcare: Ontario IPC

Patricia KosseimTORONTO – The Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario (IPC) has concluded its review of the high number of privacy breaches at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton due to misdirected faxes. The IPC became aware of the issue at St. Joseph’s after noticing an unusually high number of reported incidents in the hospital’s 2020 annual statistical report. All health information custodians in Ontario are required by law to submit these reports to the IPC annually. Read More
