Shimadzu expands its wireless mobile DR in Canada
March 19, 2014
TORRANCE, Calif. – Shimadzu Medical Systems USA, a subsidiary of Shimadzu Corporation, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of advanced diagnostic imaging systems, has announced that it has expanded its product portfolio in Canada to include a new wireless digital mobile radiography system. Shimadzu’s authorized distributor in Canada, Christie InnoMed of Saint-Eustache, Quebec, is now accepting orders for the system.
The Mobile DaRt Evolution Wireless SZ Type with a flat panel detector (FPD) is a state-of-the-art mobile DR system that rapidly acquires and then displays images within 3 seconds. The SZ Type incorporates a high resolution wireless FPD integrated into a 32 kW generator that combines impressive maneuverability and ease of operation.
In addition to daily rounds imaging, these features make the Mobile DaRt Evolution Wireless SZ Type ideal for use in emergency departments and when imaging neonatal and pediatric patients. With its wireless sleek design, the system is easy to clean and sanitize.
The digital radiography system’s high power needs only a short exposure time, thus minimizing the impact of motion artifacts caused by the movement of patients. It is available with either a 42 cm x 42 cm GOS flat panel detector or 43 cm x 34 cm (1920 x 1536 pixels) GOS or Csl flat panel detectors.
A smaller 28 cm x 23 cm Csl FPD is also available. This low dose system offers two types of dose management tools as options. A Dose Area Product (DAP) meter can be mounted to the front of the collimator to display dose measurements in the display panel. A distance measurement unit showing the distance from the X-ray tube focal point to the patient is available and can be added when a dose calculation function is incorporated into the system.
State-of-the-art control software that supports multiple study acquisition is designed to optimize workflow by reducing steps needed to perform exams. Special maneuverability features include a wide range of motion of an ultra long arm, “inch mover” buttons for use in tight spaces such as at ICU bedsides, and system light-touch maneuvering.
An up-to-4,000 image large capacity storage system enable technologists to rapidly compare images. DICOM worklist is supported and with the optional wireless network connection, images can be sent directly to a hospital’s PACS after a study is closed, regardless of where the mobile DR system may be within a hospital complex.
