CHIMA partners with the Canadian College of Health Leaders
May 7, 2014
LONDON, Ont. – CHIMA announced that it has signed a partnership agreement with the Canadian College of Health Leaders to support the need for professional development, leadership training and lifelong learning.
“This partnership will be critical as CHIMA continues to raise the profile of the health information management profession, particularly among hospital leaders and healthcare decision-makers,” said Gail Crook (pictured), Chief Executive Officer and Registrar of CHIMA. “As we use electronic health records more widely, collaborative relationships like the one we have with the College become integral to making the transition successful.”
The Canadian College of Health Leaders is a national, member-driven, not-for-profit association dedicated to ensuring that the country’s health system benefits from capable, competent and effective leadership.
“With the evolution to electronic health records, the ability to use data to improve quality of care will be greatly enhanced” said Ray Racette, CHE, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian College of Health Leaders. “HIM professionals will be instrumental in helping the health system realize this potential and our partnership with CHIMA speaks to this importance.”
Objectives of the partnership include adding value to each other’s membership base through jointly developing and offering professional development opportunities, increasing the awareness of the HIM profession and workforce transformation among hospital leaders and health care decision-makers, and promoting and increasing awareness of each other’s offerings to members.
