Prostate Cancer Canada selects NexJ’s platform

November 5, 2014

Bill Tatham

TORONTO – NexJ Systems Inc., a provider of cloud-based software delivering enterprise solutions, announced that Prostate Cancer Canada (PCC) has selected NexJ Connected Wellness as its technology platform for delivering a Pan-Canadian Survivorship Program called True NTH. The program is funded by Movember, the global charity committed to changing the face of men’s health.

PCC’s selection of NexJ Connected Wellness was the outcome of a global competition that assessed consumer patient portal and population health management vendors. The evaluation process was conducted by PCC’s True NTH Member Organizations – a collaborative of over 20 leading research institutions and cancer care centres.

Prostate Cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Canadian men at 24% of all new cancer cases. Over 23,000 Canadian men are diagnosed each year, but the death rate has been declining by almost 4% per year, thanks to earlier detection and better treatment options.

Fulfilling PCC’s mandate to provide comprehensive support services for this population, the True NTH program will enable men with prostate cancer to learn about their treatment and its impacts, collaborate with their care team as well as their social support network, and receive support and encouragement to optimize their quality of life.

NexJ Connected Wellness is a cloud-based technology platform for patient activation. It is used by healthcare professionals to empower patients to self-manage their own health and wellness. It improves patient activation by delivering health education, enabling greater collaboration between patients, care providers and social support networks, and coaching people to achieve their health and wellness goals.

This first deployment phase of the True NTH program will span three years from 2014 to 2017 on a subscription basis. Initial components will go live in 2014 with the full program scope going live by 2016. Collaborating partner organizations will span the full spectrum of formal health service providers, as well as community-based lifestyle support organizations such as the YMCA.

“This is an important step in the commercial acceptance of NexJ Connected Wellness,” says William M. Tatham (pictured), Chief Executive Officer of NexJ Systems Inc. “NexJ has been participating in Movember challenges and engaging with Prostate Cancer Canada for a number of years. This is a cause we are committed to and I am incredibly excited that NexJ Connected Wellness will be improving the lives of this population of Canadian men.”
