Karos Health supports RSNA reporting initiative
December 3, 2014
WATERLOO, Ont. – Karos Health, a leader in standards-based clinical information exchange, cross-enterprise workflow and diagnosis solutions, has partnered with the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) to provide a rapid and intuitive method for radiologists to create standards-based, best-practice report templates.
Karos Health has developed the Report Template Editor in close collaboration with leading experts in radiology reporting and the RSNA Reporting Subcommittee. The Report Template Editor has been made freely available as open source software, providing readily available tools to improve radiology report quality.
Radiologists will be able to access an intuitive graphical user interface to create structured report templates that can be submitted to the RadReport Open Template Library. Templates are stored in standards-based IHE Management of Radiology Report Templates (MRRT) format for portability and interoperability.
They are also compliant with the newly published standard, DICOM Supplement 155 – Imaging Reports in CDA. These expert report templates will be available for the radiology community to access and use.
“This tool, referred to as the ‘T-Rex’ report template editor – developed by Karos Health to support RSNA’s radiology reporting initiative – helps radiologists create and edit reporting templates quickly and intuitively. T-Rex simplifies the template editing process and makes it easier for RSNA members to develop expert report templates,” says Charles Kahn (pictured), Jr., MD, MS, University of Pennsylvania and Chair of the RSNA Reporting Subcommittee.
RSNA is an association of more than 53,000 radiologists, radiation oncologists, medical physicists and related scientists, promoting excellence in patient care and health care delivery through education, research and technologic innovation. The Society is based in Oak Brook, Ill. (RSNA.org)
