OHA announces educational series on eHealth

TORONTO – The Ontario Hospital Association is kicking-off a series of educational conferences and webinars on the topic of eHealth. The programs will cover Ontario’s latest directions in eHealth; how to improve hospital EHR systems and achieve a higher standing in the HIMSS Analytics EMRAM ratings; getting Board members on board with electronic information systems; and strategies for best implementing CPOE and evidence-based medicine.

The OHA’s eHealth series includes the following sessions:

  • eHealth 101

Webcast Date: June 8, 2015

Time: 12 – 1:30 p.m. (EST)

eHealth 101 is the first webcast in the series of educational programs that will introduce you to topics on eHealth. Providing a starting point for understanding Ontario’s eHealth strategy, this webcast will remind hospitals that eHealth is a commitment to improving quality and patient care.

This webcast will:

  • Provide an update and share Ontario’s eHealth strategy
  • Promote the framework for the implementation of Ontario’s Electronic Health Record
  • Provide clarification on eHealth planning and management
  • Demonstrate the importance of eHealth in our healthcare system
  • Advancing Towards a Paperless Patient Record

Healthcare organizations strive to achieve Stage 7 of the HIMSS Analytics Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (EMRAM), a paperless patient record which in turn results in true sharing, information exchange and immediate delivery of patient data to improve process performance, safety and quality of care.

Chaired by John P. Hoyt, Executive Vice President, HIMSS Analytics, this event will act as a platform for each of the five hospitals in Ontario that have achieved Stage 6 on the HIMSS Analytics EMRAM, to share their insights, challenges, tactics and strategies on their journey to success.

This event will provide delegates with an opportunity to share best practices of efforts that optimize healthcare outcomes using information technology, while encouraging discussion and networking.

  • Getting Board Members on Board with Health Care Information Systems

Board members are invited to attend the lunchtime session broadcast live from the Advancing Towards a Paperless Patient Record conference. Featuring John P. Hoyt, Executive Vice President, HIMSS Analytics and Karim Mamdani, President and CEO, Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences, this webcast will provide strategies for preparing and educating the board for the transition to electronic medical records and using the HIMSS Analytics Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (EMRAM) as a measure for progress towards a paperless environment.

  • Doing CPOE Right: Patient-Centred Design and Evidence-Based Culture
