meshMD acquires Wellx communication platform

August 5, 2015

TORONTO – meshMD Inc, the secure healthcare software solution provider, announced that it has acquired Wellx (wellx.ca) – a popular secure communication tool which allows physicians and patients to connect digitally.

meshMD plans to integrate Wellx’s cutting edge technology into its platform to better serve clients of both companies.

“Incorporating a dynamic tool like Wellx into our secure platform will allow meshMD to deliver communication services like no other in the healthcare industry,” said Gabriel Tick, CEO of meshMD. “We’re thrilled that we can now power real-time collaboration between patients, physicians, clinics, and all of the organizations they work with on one secure and compliant platform.

“This will ultimately foster greater efficiencies in the healthcare system and lead to better patient care.”

A study conducted at the Group Health Cooperative in Washington, DC, clearly shows that online communication between doctors and patients improves care, especially for patients with chronic diseases.

“We are very excited about this agreement,” said Nick Ragaz (pictured), co-founder & CEO, Wellx. “Our combined solution will offer all healthcare providers tools that will make their lives easier and practices more efficient and productive.”

About Wellx

Wellx allows providers to securely message their patients through a robust web portal and an iPhone application available through the Apple App Store. Currently, the platform is used mainly by Ontario physicians and approximately 25,000 of their patients.
