Canadian Association of Radiologists appoints new CEO

March 23, 2016

Nicholas NeuheimerOTTAWA – The Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR), the national voice of radiology, announced that Nicholas Neuheimer (pictured) has been selected as the Association’s new Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Neuheimer will assume his new role on April 11, 2016, immediately prior to the Association’s 79th Annual Scientific Meeting.

Having held senior roles at leading national health associations for over 10 years, Mr. Neuheimer brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge in advocacy, corporate communications, government relations and governance.

“I believe in the CAR mission of maintaining the highest standards of care, promoting patient safety and helping radiologists contribute to the very best healthcare for patients,” said Mr. Neuheimer. “My experience as a senior association leader will help to ensure that these goals are delivered in a collaborative, proactive and accountable way.”

With the Association’s heightened focus on advocacy in recent years, Dr. William Miller, president of the CAR, is confident with Mr. Neuheimer’s appointment, stating that his “experience as a healthcare leader, with particular expertise in advocacy, governance, corporate communications and financial management will strengthen the CAR as a leader of our profession.”

Originally from Montreal and holding a Master’s Degree in Economics, Mr. Neuheimer began his career as an economist in the United States and then in Canada. He subsequently transitioned to healthcare upon joining the Canadian Medical Association as an association director of research in health economics.

His most recent role as director of health policy and advocacy for the Canadian Cardiovascular Society saw him develop a strong network in the civil service, with parliamentarians as well as government relations professionals. As a Certified Association Executive, Mr. Neuheimer was the president of the Ottawa-Gatineau chapter of the Canadian Society of Association of Executives in 2011.

About the CAR
The Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR) is the national specialty society for radiologists in Canada, dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of care, promoting patient safety and helping radiologists contribute to the very best health care for patients.
