Users of Figure 1 have viewed cases 2 billion times

February 1, 2017

Dr Josh LandyTORONTO – Figure 1, the app that connects healthcare professionals and medical students from over 190 countries, announced that 1 million healthcare professionals have viewed medical cases on the platform more than 2 billion times.

Figure 1, created in Toronto, links medical professionals and enables them to view rare conditions, innovative treatments, and teaching cases from around the world. It also allows them to page more than 1 million healthcare professionals for instant feedback, and to communicate with colleagues using HIPAA-compliant direct messaging.

Already used by organizations ranging from New York’s Mount Sinai Health System to Doctors Without Borders, Figure 1 expects rapid growth throughout 2017 as a leading platform for healthcare.

Figure 1’s one million users can easily connect with colleagues from all around the world on iOS, Android, and the web. The free mobile app offers immediate access to tens of thousands of medical cases, sorted by specialty and anatomy.

By harnessing innovative technology and intuitive design, Figure 1 offers its growing community the opportunity to share their clinical knowledge and ask for feedback on difficult cases, while protecting patients’ privacy.

“Since we launched Figure 1 three years ago, we have experienced tremendous growth and momentum,” said Dr. Joshua Landy (pictured), co-founder of Figure 1. “Reaching more than one million users is a meaningful step toward our goal of democratizing medical knowledge.

“The global demand for Figure 1 shows how important immediate collaboration is for the healthcare community, and we couldn’t be happier to see medical professionals and students come together on the platform to improve their practice. At Figure 1, we strongly believe that every patient deserves the best care, no matter their location or resources.”

The platform’s 2 billion case views come on the heels of several company milestones:

  • Record growth in Brazil, where 100,000+ healthcare professionals are now using the platform in Portuguese. Brazil is now Figure 1’s second-biggest market after the U.S.
  • More than 70% of U.S. medical students are registered on the platform, positioning Figure 1 as the future of medicine.
  • Partnerships with the American Cancer Society, the University of Chicago, STAT News, the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, the Medical University of South Carolina, and many more leading organizations.
  • Expanded utility with Text Cases, a new feature that allows healthcare professionals to share cases without a visual component and extends Figure 1’s reach into all specialties of medicine.

“I use Figure 1 to hone my diagnostic skills and to interact with the specialists in my field, as well as allied health professionals from the global healthcare community,” said Dr. Aaron Black, an orthopedic surgery resident and member of the Figure 1 community. “I enjoy teaching and Figure 1 is a wonderful resource for this, as well.”

About Figure 1
Figure 1 aspires to be the central nervous system of global healthcare. Its mission is to democratize medical knowledge by giving every healthcare professional the power to connect, communicate, and collaborate. Figure 1 is at the forefront of a technological revolution in healthcare, one that will improve treatment for every patient around the globe.
