Awards recognize excellence in health informatics

TORONTO – The annual Canadian Healthcare Informatics Awards were presented during the eHealth 2017 Conference and Trade Show earlier this month. The awards are presented by COACH and ITAC Health – they recognize excellence, leadership and innovation in Canada’s health informatics sector.
This year’s winners were:
Innovation in Adoption of Health Informatics Award
Mark Farrow (pictured), VP & chief information officer, Hamilton Health Sciences. Hamilton Early Warning Score Project (HEWS). The Hamilton Early Warning System is a set of technologies, processes and communications protocols designed to identify and respond to life-threatening changes in the vital signs of hospital inpatients. It has dramatically lowered the number of Code Blue alerts in the hospital.
