Alayacare receives funding of $750,000 from Ottawa

August 9, 2017

Adrian SchauerTORONTO – FedDev Ontario, a federal government agency, announced that it is providing AlayaCare Inc. with up to $750,000 to commercialize its innovative home healthcare software. Healthcare systems are impacted by the aging baby boomer generation and are looking to the tech and software community to provide solutions that are more affordable and outcome-driven.

The FedDev Ontario repayable contribution of up to $750,000 is leveraging up to $1.5 million in matched funding from Recap Health Venture and five Maple Leaf Angel investors.

“Our employees, customers and their patients have all witnessed the benefits of well designed and developed software. This FedDev Ontario contribution will increase AlayaCare’s scale to push our success further and faster,” said Adrian Schauer (pictured), CEO, AlayaCare Inc.

AlayaCare’s system supports more cost-effective, efficient delivery of healthcare, especially for post-acute and chronic disease patients who need 24/7 healthcare services. This includes remote monitoring services that allow healthcare agencies and patients to access and receive care from home.

FedDev Ontario funding, through the Investing in Business Innovation initiative, will allow AlayaCare to commercialize its home healthcare system throughout the North American home healthcare industry – which consists of more than 29,000 agencies and hospice providers, including homecare.

This project will strengthen the medical software and service industry in southern Ontario and build on Canada’s technology expertise, by supporting the development of innovative software solutions for the healthcare sector and creating up to 11 permanent full-time jobs.
