Humber River upgrades EHR to Meditech Expanse
April 24, 2019
TORONTO – Building on its foundation as the first fully digital hospital in North America, Humber River Hospital (HRH) recently went LIVE with Expanse, Meditech’s Web Enterprise Health Record (EHR). HRH is a major acute care hospital that serves more than 850,000 people in the greater Toronto area, and the upgrade to Expanse provides the facility with cutting-edge technology that is designed to improve efficiency and connect patient care across the spectrum.
“Throughout our nearly 30-year partnership with Meditech, we have had a collaborative relationship which was an important part of our decision to upgrade to Expanse,” said Peter Bak (pictured), CIO at HRH. “Meditech’s ability to keep up with our evolving needs has enabled us to continue to execute our innovative digital strategy and deliver exceptional patient care.”
The upgrade was the culmination of a multifaceted project planned by the hospital’s “Go-LIVE team.” During the implementation, Meditech worked with its long-time customer to ensure the implementation was as effective and efficient as possible.
“Humber is a flagship hospital, setting the industry standard with its technological vision. We are honored to partner with them to achieve the next milestone in their plan,” Meditech executive vice president Helen Waters said.
As part of the upgrade, HRH went LIVE with Expanse ED and Physician Documentation (PDoc) solutions that will increase efficiency and streamline workflow. The hospital has one of Canada’s busiest emergency departments, serving more than 140,000 patients annually.
