Panasonic’s TOUGHBOOK 55 has all-day battery
September 11, 2019
MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – Panasonic is pleased to announce the Panasonic TOUGHBOOK 55. Building on its legendary reliability, Panasonic TOUGHBOOK continues to raise the bar in versatility, technology, performance and ruggedness. The TOUGHBOOK 55 offers unrivaled flexibility with its modular expansion packs and accessories that ensure users can customize the design of the laptop to accommodate the changing way they work.
Expansion packs offer a variety of additional features – whether I/O ports, a fingerprint reader, dedicated graphics or a second storage drive. Both the main storage drive and optional second storage drive are quick-release for easier installs and access to the drives, and even the RAM and keyboard itself are user-upgradeable.
The ability to work all day without running out of battery life is among the most critical needs for users who are in the field for extended periods of time without convenient access to power for recharging, such as first responders, utility workers, tree crews assisting in disaster recovery and military in remote locations. To address this critical function, the TOUGHBOOK 55 has the longest battery life of any Panasonic TOUGHBOOK introduced to date with the ability to hot-swap an optional second battery without powering down. At the same time, the TOUGHBOOK 55 is the thinnest and lightest in its class.
The TOUGHBOOK 55 offers the latest in technology, performance and security, including an optional 1000 nit touchscreen, AMD dedicated graphics and the latest Intel 8th Gen quad core i5 and i7 processors (products formerly known as Whiskey Lake). Intel vPro is standard allowing remote management for IT departments and added security including Intel® Hardware Shield.
The TOUGHBOOK 55 is the first laptop with tetra-array microphones for unmatched speech recognition accuracy. It is also the first TOUGHBOOK to offer a USB Type-C port, HDMI 2.0 and Bluetooth 5.0. Compared to previous TOUGHBOOK devices, the new laptop also offers faster Wi-Fi, louder speakers, enhanced brightness and a color-selectable backlit keyboard.
Customers of the TOUGHBOOK 54 will find that the TOUGHBOOK 55 is backwards compatible with their existing vehicle and desktop docks protecting their investment in their docking infrastructure and avoiding the hassle of replacing and installing new docks into their fleet of vehicles.
“As our customers across industries evolve to meet the needs of their own customers, Panasonic is dedicated to proactively anticipating the trajectory of their digital transformations and supporting them throughout,” said Susan Black, general manager of IT and security systems, Panasonic Canada Inc. “The TOUGHBOOK 55 was created with that purpose in mind, featuring more customization, adaptability and personalization. The next defining chapter of mobile technology is not simply how well rugged devices withstand extreme work environments, something TOUGHBOOK has proven over three decades, but how rugged mobility facilitates an evolving business climate.”
Warranty and services
Every TOUGHBOOK 55 comes with a comprehensive 3-year manufacturer’s hardware warranty covering all defects in materials or workmanship. With Canadian-based engineering, help desk and repair services, devices have an average turnaround time of 48 hours once received at the Panasonic National Service Center. Also, all overnight freights are paid both ways for all in warranty repairs. Additional upgraded services are available, including Premier Deployment services, 24-hour devices exchange programs, Extended Product Warranty (4th/5th year), Ultimate Care and Protection Plus (Accidental Damage Warranties), and HDD/SSD no return Warranties.
