PEI uses Densitas breast density software province-wide

February 19, 2020

Ryan DugganHALIFAX, N.S. – Halifax-based Densitas Inc., a leading provider of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies for digital mammography, announced that Prince Edward Island (PEI) has integrated its Health Canada-licensed automated breast density software, densitas densityai™, into the PEI breast screening program. As a result, every woman who receives a screening mammogram on the island will be notified of her breast density through the software’s AI-powered algorithm that standardizes density reporting and supports uniform care.

Densitas densityai™ generates fully automated, standardized, and reproducible AI-driven breast density assessments from mammograms that align with internationally recognized breast density classification scales.

Premier Dennis King announced plans for province-wide density notification in November 2019.

PEI now becomes the second Canadian province to implement breast density notification using Densitas’ automated results after Nova Scotia.

“Health PEI’s integration of our breast density solution into its screening workflow is a testament to the unique advantages that our solution offers,” said Ryan Duggan (pictured), director of product development at Densitas. “Our advanced solutions are built to solve real clinical problems and effectively support healthcare providers in the move towards value-based care.”
