Naveed Mohammad takes charge at William Osler

April 15, 2020

Dr Naveed MohammadBRAMPTON, Ont. – Dr. Naveed Mohammad (pictured) has been appointed President & CEO of the William Osler Health System, a three-hospital organization with facilities in Brampton and Etobicoke. Dr. Mohammad posted this letter, announcing his appointment, on the Osler website.

I joined William Osler Health System (Osler) as an Emergency Physician 23 years ago, and immediately I knew I had found my professional home. Today, I am honoured and excited to begin a new journey as President and CEO of the organization that taught me so much, not only as a physician and a leader, but personally, too.

I’m starting this new role in the midst of unprecedented challenges-for our world, our community and for healthcare – but I hope you can take comfort in knowing we don’t navigate this challenge alone. On the front lines and behind the scenes all across Osler are exceptional staff, physicians and volunteers who are giving their all in the face of this health crisis. I am committed to supporting them as they continue to deliver the quality healthcare we need. I am also grateful for the ongoing support and cooperation of our communities. I look forward to a day soon when we can celebrate our collective strength in weathering this storm.

I’d like to extend my thanks to Dr. Frank Martino who has been serving as Osler’s Interim President and CEO since December. His leadership over these past few months and his thoughtful guidance throughout this transition has been tremendous. Today, he assumes the role of Interim Executive Vice-President, Quality, Medical and Academic Affairs, until our recruitment for that position has been completed.

I look forward to serving Osler’s communities, patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and board members with empathy, honesty and dedication. Though we are facing immense challenges today, I am truly energized by the possibilities that lie ahead. I believe we will come through the other side stronger than before.
