Thoughtwire, PointClickCare win Microsoft awards

May 20, 2020

Mike MonteithStuart FeldmanTORONTO – ThoughtWire and PointClickCare Technologies announced they have been named as recipients of Microsoft Corp.’s 2020 Health Innovation Awards. Presented annually, the awards recognize health organizations and their technology solution partners for using Microsoft technology in innovative ways to deliver better experiences, insights and care.

ThoughtWire and PointClickCare received the Microsoft Health Innovation Award for Empowering Care Teams for their development of LTC eConnect, a unified solution to help clinicians and care teams provide complex care in long-term care facilities. Built on Microsoft Azure, LTC eConnect is designed to streamline and simplify how clinicians access their patients’ information.

The solution connects critical information sources and applies robotic process automation (RPA) and augmented intelligence (AI) to create a single source of truth for patient information.

“We’re honoured to win this award,” said Mike Monteith (pictured on left), chief executive officer, ThoughtWire. “This is a great example of what can be achieved when we work together. By using the power of Azure and partnering with PointClickCare, we’ve been able to solve a critical problem that affects long-term care homes around the world. I’m proud of our team for this accomplishment.”

An esteemed panel of industry experts selected this year’s winners based on how their innovations represented a forward-thinking development or implementation of a solution that is delivering groundbreaking results and producing better health outcomes for more people.

“PointClickCare is proud to be recognized for our collaborative work with ThoughtWire,” said Stuart Feldman (pictured on right), general manager, Canada, PointClickCare. “This award is testament that PointClickCare is more than just a technology vendor to our customers. We’re a trusted partner providing innovative and effective solutions, truly designed to solve long-term care’s most pressing issues.”

“As a nurse practitioner, LTC eConnect has streamlined my ability to access health information,” says Meghan O’Brien, nurse practitioner, St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre (SJCCC). “Having access to this information has been critical in our efforts to improve continuity of care, clinical outcomes, as well as patient and resident experience.”

“SJCCC has been using PointClickCare’s eConnect for almost two years now, and it’s been really powerful for me as a registered nurse and infection control lead,” said Shivon Konink, director, health & safety, education and infection control, SJCCC. “The ability to instantaneously see lab results on all my residents, from a variety of different labs, has been so helpful – particularly recently with COVID-19. This technology is truly improving resident care.”

Patty Obermaier, Microsoft’s vice president of U.S. Health and Life Sciences added, “During this both challenging and transformational time in the healthcare industry, organizations are using technology to profoundly impact how they deliver care, evolve business operations, and help people. “This year’s Microsoft Health Innovation Award recipients are advancing the goals of improved patient engagement and care coordination through their innovative use of Microsoft devices, platforms and cloud and AI services.”
