Medical-grade UPS provide reliability for HFNO

June 10, 2020

TrippLite SMART700CHICAGO – Tripp Lite, a global manufacturer of power and connectivity solutions, offers medical-grade uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems to power mobile medical devices such as High Flow Nasal Oxygen (HFNO) therapy. HFNO therapy systems, used to manage respiratory failure, can pose risks for patients in transit if power is lost. Tripp Lite’s SmartPro® SMART700HGL (120V) and SMX700HGL (230V) UPS systems are compliant with the machines to provide uninterrupted oxygen in transport.

Tripp Lite’s 700 VA SmartPro® medical-grade UPS systems offer a reliable transfer plan for HFNO patients, enabling treatment to be initiated in emergency or short-stay units. The devices are UL 60601-1 compliant for safe use throughout hospitals, including patient care areas. Their mobile power allows patients to move throughout medical facilities and continue receiving therapy.

Key Benefits of Tripp Lite’s 700 VA SmartPro® UPS Systems:

  • UL 60601-1 compliance for use in patient care vicinities
  • Compliant with HFNO therapy
  • Reliable power for testing & HFNO equipment
  • Lifetime limited warranties
  • UPS Lithium battery life is 10,000 cycles vs. 500 cycles with lead-acid batteries
  • Lithium iron phosphate batteries provide reliable backup power
  • Reduced cumulative shock potential

Additionally, the machine design features mobility recharge to keep testing equipment powered while moving from one room to another, eliminating time required restarting the devices. The lithium-ion phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries provide 7,000-10,000 life cycles, significantly reducing downtime compared with lead acid batteries.

“In environments like operating rooms or patient care facilities, the ability to keep all equipment running while mobile and through outages is essential,” said Jim Folk, director of healthcare solutions. “Tripp Lite’s innovative hospital-grade line protects both healthcare workers and patients while keeping equipment powered in critical times.”
