CHUM holds first hackathon blitz

July 28, 2021

CHUM Hackathon BlitzMONTREAL – The Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal held its first Hackathon Blitz for healthcare in June, organized in partnership with the City of Montreal and Hacking Health Montreal. For 12 hours, seven teams developed projects from idea to design, accompanied by experienced coaches and mentors from our partners at Ubisoft, Ivado, Hacking Health and engaged citizens.

It was a day of intensive collaboration in the virtual universe of Innove-Action 2021 for 100 or so participants.

From the start, positive participant feedback set the tone for the theme, “Alone we had an idea. Together, we have a project.”

As the day passed, more ideas developed. One participant noted, “The difference between what we had this morning and what we have now is staggering, in just a few hours.”

During the evening’s grand finale, each team had three minutes to present its project and persuade the members of the jury composed of Mathieu Ferland, Ubisoft; David Santelli – Esplanade; Alexandre Le Bouthillier – Imagia; Sovita Chander – Prompt; and Marie-Andrée Côté – Patient partner, as well as the general public.

The jury proclaimed the Cadicée team the grand winner of this first edition and the public’s favorite prize went to the Guided Meditation project team.

Member of the Cadicée team: Geneviève David, Cathy Bazinet, Marie-Pascale Pomey, Sacha Ghadiri, Ghislaine Rouly, Julie Schmit, Simon Papineau, Catherine Lemyse, Esli Osmanlliu, Thomas Villeneuve, Mathieu Benoit, Marie-Michelle Poulin and facilitator Camille Blanckaert.

Public favorites – Guided mediation
Member of the Guided Meditation team: Suzanne Trottier, Cynthia Lanati, Émilie Patenaude, Graf Tsé, Andréanne Tremblay and Irma Di Giacinto as facilitator.

Winners or not, participants were proud of the work accomplished as one participant, Antoine, mentioned: “It’s a great collaboration to go beyond the limits of what is achievable, imagine if we had had 48 hours …”
