WATERLOO, Ont. – The Data Analytics I: Operational Analytics for Quality & Performance Improvement certificate course will provide executives, managers, analysts, and other stakeholders with the essential information needed to fully leverage the power of the data within their healthcare organizations. The goal is to provide decision-makers with the knowledge and tools to immediately improve analytics effectiveness and return-on-investment within your organization, branch, department, or unit.
NIHI – McMaster University Course Data Analytics I
8 Sessions, 13 Hours.

3 Live online sessions: October 4, 18 & November 1, 2021
The sessions will cover how to synthesize data from source systems and combine it with proven Quality Improvement (QI) methodologies, well-defined quality and performance goals, and powerful analytical methods to enable more insightful, fact-based decisions that achieve desired outcomes and create an impact within an organization.
This 8 session (13 Hours) certificate program is for anyone who is responsible for managing, developing, or using analytics within their organization, or is interested in being part of their organization’s analytics team.
Upon completion you will be awarded a McMaster University – NIHI Certificate of Attendance in Data Analytics I: Operational Analytics for Quality and Performance Improvement. A Certificate of Attendance is a non-academic certificate acknowledging that the recipient has completed a minimum of 10 hours of education/training in the subject area.
Data Analytics I is the first part of a three-part program. If you successfully complete all three parts, you will be awarded a Micro-Certification in Data Analytics. See below for more details.

With more than two decades of data analytics leadership experience, Trevor Strome, MSc, PMP, is the author of Healthcare Analytics for Quality and Performance Improvement published by John Wiley & Sons. A popular conference speaker, Trevor is director of digital airport solutions at the Winnipeg Airports Authority and assistant professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Manitoba.

Be one of the first to receive this formal recognition of your professional development, when you successfully complete Data Analytics I, II, and III. Signified by a micro-credential, the Micro-Certification in Data Analytics is verified, secure, and shareable with peers, employers, and educational providers. Please note: You do not need to complete the courses Data Analytics I, II, & III in sequential order to qualify for the micro-certification.
What is a Micro-Certification? A micro-credential is an official certification of the achievement of a specific skill or skill set that:
- Is awarded in a digital form which includes embedded data about the micro-certification (where and when earned and the competencies assessed)
- Is verified, secure, and shareable with peers, employers, and educational providers
- Can by shared on your resume, portfolio or website
- Can be curated, annotated, and distributed over digital networks under the earner’s control
