New VP of digital health at Mackenzie Health

Purvi DesaiRICHMOND HILL, Ont. – Purvi Desai (pictured) has accepted the role of vice president, digital health and chief information officer at Mackenzie Health, effective July 18, 2022. Purvi brings over 18 years of progressive leadership experience within healthcare.

She joins Mackenzie Health most recently from Unity Health Toronto, where she held the role of executive director, digital transformation, responsible for leading a clinical transformation to enable the delivery of high-quality care, patient engagement and experience.

During her time at Unity Health, Purvi held multiple senior-level roles and she has provided leadership and support for a full range of programs and services related to health information management and technology, including clinical informatics, application support and development, IT project management, helpdesk services, IT security and privacy, and data centre and infrastructure management.

Purvi has a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master of Business Administration from McMaster University. Purvi’s strong leadership skills, along with her passion for engaging and collaborating with teams and partners, will be a significant asset to Mackenzie Health.

Purvi will provide strategic leadership and oversight for the Clinical Informatics and Information Technology infrastructure portfolio across all Mackenzie Health sites and will focus on supporting and enabling the organization to deliver on its mission of patient and family-centred care.

This will include driving digital innovation and best practices and working to ensure the hospital’s current and future assets, resources, applications, and infrastructure continue to support effective corporate planning and enable excellence in patient care and service.

Mackenzie Health’s two hospitals – Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital and Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital – each have a full-service emergency department, core services and specialized services. The Woman and Child, Inpatient Mental Health and Inpatient Integrated Stroke programs are available to the community at Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital. An extensive range of outpatient clinics, chronic kidney disease care, complex continuing care and rehabilitation are available at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital. Several community-based locations and services provide additional support to western York Region.
