Royal Vic deploys Hypercare for care coordination
July 20, 2022
BARRIE, Ont. – Royal Victoria Hospital (RVH) has recently implemented Hypercare, a technology platform that helps clinical teams coordinate patient care seamlessly and effectively. RVH joins an impressive list of hospitals in Ontario who are using Hypercare to help improve patient safety by reducing communication breakdowns at critical times.
Using Hypercare, RVH’s healthcare teams can communicate via a best-in-class PHIPA compliant instant messaging app, replace the use of pagers, streamline the source of truth for on-call schedules, and allow for providers to find out who is on-call without the need for clerks or switchboard operators. Providers can trade shifts with each other, and post shifts to the marketplace to solicit trades and pickups in a self-serve fashion.
RVH has implemented Hypercare in a number of departments, with plans to continue the rollout to other teams within the hospital. Hypercare has been shown to reduce communication breakdowns, increase work efficiency, and reduce switchboard call volume.
“We are excited to be working with Hypercare to replace our antiquated pagers with a modern, unified clinical communications tool that both allows you to find out who is on call, and message them in seconds,” said Andrew Broeren, interim manager, academic and medical affairs at RVH. “Trusting Hypercare with this crucial change was a simple decision given that we were already using Hypercare for our code STEMI activation along with a few other departments.”
“We are very excited for RVH to join the network of hospitals across Ontario using Hypercare to decrease clinician response times and improve care coordination,” added Albert Tai, CEO at Hypercare.
This is the beginning of a major transformation for RVH to leave the frustrations of pagers, manual processes, and fragmentation of communication behind, and to reclaim time and effort for direct patient care, Tai noted.
