June 7, 2023
MONTREAL – Gary Stoopler (pictured) has been appointed associate executive director of CIUSSS West-Central Montreal, effective immediately. In his new role, Mr. Stoopler will oversee the crucial areas of IT, Logistics and Technical Services, as well as matters involving Quality, Transformation, Evaluation, Value, Clinical and Organizational Ethics, and Virtual Care.
“This position is best served by an individual with a balance of experience and skills in both administrative and clinical areas – qualities that Mr. Stoopler has in abundance,” said Dr. Lawrence Rosenberg, president and CEO of CIUSSS West-Central Montreal.
Since 2021, he has been director of the Support Program for the Autonomy of Seniors (SAPA), having joined our CIUSSS in 2019 as director of Rehabilitation and Multidisciplinary Services.
When the CISSS in Laval came into existence in 2015, Mr. Stoopler was named director of the Intellectual Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorders and Physical Disabilities programs. From 2015 to 2018, he also served as chair of the Board of Directors of the Pôle universitaire en réadaptation, an association of four CISSSs and CIUSSSs that operates the Centre de recherche interdisciplinaire en réadaptation du Montréal métropolitain.
Previously, Mr. Stoopler played key roles as executive director of the Jewish Rehabilitation Hospital; administrative director of Medicine, Surgery, Cancer Care and Women’s Health at the McGill University Health Centre; and assistant to the director of Professional Services at the Jewish General Hospital, where he began his career in 1993.
