RVH’s new system improves response to emergencies

August 2, 2023

Gail Hunt 2022BARRIE, Ont. – The Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) in Barrie, Ontario, has deployed an integrated solution from Connexall and Hypercare to enhance medical emergency activations, including those for Code Blue and Code Pink emergencies. The new system improves patient safety by reducing response times during critical situations.

Committed to delivering exceptional patient care, RVH implemented the Hypercare-Connexall integration to ensure swift, coordinated responses when patients experience such events as cardiac arrests or other life-threatening emergencies.

“As an organization committed to optimizing patient care delivery through innovative technologies and solutions, the implementation of Hypercare is a significant step for RVH,” said Gail Hunt (pictured), RVH president and CEO. “During a medical emergency, which can occur anywhere in the health centre, at any time, every second counts. By mobilizing our highly trained teams in real-time providing detailed location and alert notifications, we will improve patient outcomes.”

Connexall’s robust communication infrastructure enhances functionality of the Hypercare platform, which can now instantly notify appropriate team members via their smart devices as soon as a medical emergency event is triggered. Hypercare’s secure communication capability enables the efficient delivery of location and patient details and facilitates live correspondence between members of the code response team, ensuring rapid mobilization during emergencies.

“We are delighted to collaborate with Connexall and RVH to revolutionize code response team activations,” said Albert Tai, CEO at Hypercare. “This integration empowers healthcare providers with real-time communication, enabling them to deliver timely, life-saving interventions and improve patient outcomes.”

Connexall, a trusted healthcare communication and workflow management platform, facilitates secure and efficient communication across healthcare organizations. The seamless integration with Hypercare’s solution strengthens its offering and expands its capabilities to encompass Code Blue Team activations, further enhancing its value proposition for hospitals.

“Connexall is proud to have served RVH for over 15 years. Extending that relationship through our partnership with Hypercare enhances their communications capabilities, enables critical Code Blue workflows, and ultimately improves patient care,” said Sandy Saggar, interim CEO at Connexall.

The Hypercare-Connexall integration has already made a significant impact at RVH enabling the Code Blue Team to respond rapidly to critical situations. The successful implementation demonstrates the potential for enhanced patient safety and improved outcomes through streamlined communication and coordination.
