CAMH appoints director of digital innovation hub

August 21, 2024

Gillian StrudwickTORONTO – The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) announced that Dr. Gillian Strudwick (pictured) has been appointed as the interim scientific director for its newly created Digital Innovation Hub. With the increasing importance of digital innovation in mental health and addictions research, training, and care, there is a need to establish what the organization hopes will be a globally recognized hub.

The Digital Innovation Hub at CAMH will bring researchers, clinicians, educators and technology experts together to accelerate evaluation, training, and implementation of digital tools in clinics and community settings. This Digital Innovation Hub will work with teams across CAMH and leverage expertise across the organization’s research centres, education activities and IMG.

Dr. Strudwick is a registered nurse and senior scientist. She currently serves as the chief clinical informatics officer at CAMH, and previously served as interim chief nursing executive.

She is a recognized leader with an international reputation in digital mental health innovation. She has won several awards for her work and has an impressive track record of research productivity (>120 publications, and >$16 million in funding).

Dr. Strudwick serves on several boards, is a scientific officer with CIHR, advises to the NHS England on digital health, and was a member of the Ontario COVID-19 Science Advisory Table, among her many contributions.

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is Canada’s largest mental health and addiction teaching hospital and a world leading research centre in this field. CAMH combines clinical care, research, education, policy development and health promotion to help transform the lives of people affected by mental illness and addiction. CAMH is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto and is a Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization Collaborating Centre.
