Bluewater Health launches new HIS

November 6, 2024

Paula Reaume ZimmerSARNIA and PETROLIA, Ont. – Bluewater Health is excited to announce the successful launch of its new hospital information system (HIS), powered by Oracle Health, marking a transformative step in patient care for the Sarnia-Lambton community.

Bluewater Health joins the Erie St. Clair region’s shared HIS initiative through the e-VOLVE Program at TransForm Shared Service Organization (TransForm SSO). This system brings advanced tools to support high-quality, coordinated care across the continuum.

The new system will provide a more modern and connected electronic health record, streamlining workflows and facilitating better communication among clinicians. This advancement aims to reduce duplicate testing and enhance the overall patient experience.

“We are proud to reach this important milestone,” said Paula Reaume Zimmer (pictured), president and CEO of Bluewater Health. “The collaborative efforts of our clinical teams, along with our partners Oracle Health and the IT and security teams at TransForm SSO have been instrumental in making this transition smooth and effective. We are committed to ensuring that our staff have the tools they need to provide the highest quality of care to our patients.”

“The successful launch of e-VOLVE Phase 4 at Bluewater Health is a pivotal achievement for TransForm SSO and our partners,” said Lyn Baluyot, president & CEO, TransForm SSO. “This milestone will continue to move the goalpost of digitally sharing information across our regional hospitals and community providers, supporting the advancement of patient care in our region. I am incredibly proud of the collaboration, dedication and hard work that has made this transformation possible.”

“As we transition to this new system, we are committed to long-term planning that enhances the health and well-being of our community,” said Louis Guimond, board chair of Bluewater Health. “This new HIS represents a critical step in strengthening our security and fostering stronger connections with regional healthcare providers. Ultimately, these advancements will support the delivery of high-quality, coordinated care for the patients we serve now and in the future.”

The implementation of this system is part of our ongoing commitment to leverage technology to improve healthcare delivery and patient outcomes. We appreciate the patience and support of our staff, patients, and community during this transition.
