Niagara Health becomes first CT-accredited organization

November 6, 2024

Simon AkinsulieNIAGARA FALLS, Ont. – Niagara Health has become the first organization in Canada to receive CT Accreditation from the Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR), marking a significant milestone in its Medical Imaging program and demonstrating the organization’s commitment to high-quality patient care.

This achievement was the result of a collaborative effort between Niagara Health and the CAR, with both teams working closely to navigate the new accreditation process. The success of this initiative reflects the hard work and dedication of Niagara Health’s Medical Imaging staff and physicians, who ensured the organization met the rigorous standards required for accreditation.

“Achieving this accreditation is a testament to the dedication and teamwork of our entire Medical Imaging team,” said Simon Akinsulie (pictured), executive vice-president, Practice, Clinical Support and chief nursing executive at Niagara Health. “Their commitment to meeting the highest standards ensures that our patients receive the best possible care, and this recognition from CAR is a reflection of that effort.”

One of the key challenges during the process was overcoming operational differences across Niagara Health’s various sites. By addressing these challenges, the organization has strengthened its regional program and ensured that patients receive consistent, high-quality diagnostic care at every location. The accreditation highlights the strength of Niagara Health’s unified approach to healthcare delivery.

By aligning with best practices in CT imaging, Niagara Health is ensuring that each patient receives accurate and safe diagnostic care.

“Accreditation is our way of telling our patients and their families that when they come through our doors they have our verified commitment to the highest level of quality,” said Dr. Julian Dobranowski, Niagara Health’s chief of diagnostic imaging.

This accreditation not only recognizes the quality of its services but also reflects the organization’s commitment to continuously improving patient care.

“We are pleased to recognize Niagara Health as the first organization in Canada to receive CT Accreditation,” said Marc Venturi, director of Accreditation at CAR. “Their focus on excellence, patient safety and quality imaging sets a new standard for others to follow and demonstrates the impact of collaboration and adherence to best practices in medical imaging.”

The Accreditation process has been one of growth and learning for Niagara Health, setting a new benchmark for its Medical Imaging program. The organization plans to continue embracing collaboration and innovation to ensure its practices evolve with the highest standards of quality and safety.

This accomplishment would not have been possible without the efforts of Niagara Health’s dedicated staff and physicians. Their teamwork and commitment were key to achieving this milestone, which sets a strong foundation for further advancements in the organization’s approach to patient care.
