$2.35-billion capital spending will stimulate N.S. economy

HALIFAX – The Nova Scotia government announced a $2.35-billion capital plan to improve hospitals, public housing, schools, roads and highways for the 2025-26 fiscal year. In a news conference in Halifax, finance minister John Lohr (pictured) described the capital spending plan as “the largest, single-year investment in our province’s history”.
The fiscal plan includes $131.9 million to build hospitals and medical facilities in Yarmouth, Amherst, the South Shore and the IWK Health Centre, Lohr said.
Healthcare infrastructure spending includes:
- $90.9 million for health records digital transformation, the One Person One Record program;
- $42 million for Nova Scotia Health to repair and replace medical facilities;
- $32 million to repair and replace medical equipment;
- $19.2 million for new modular dialysis;
- $15.3 million for new diagnostic imaging equipment; and
- $3.1 million for the second year of the multi-disciplinary oncology partnership.
