AI Amplified keeps docs up-to-date on AI tools

September 24, 2025

Dr Mohamed Alarakhia [2023]KITCHENER-WATERLOO, Ont. – Amplify Care has launched AI Amplified, an online resource designed to keep clinicians up to date on emerging AI tools and how they can be meaningfully applied in practice.

One of the most transformative developments on the horizon is Agentic AI, which is poised to significantly impact primary care in particular. Tools like AI-enabled triage and AI reception are already helping practices manage demand more efficiently and supporting patients in getting into the right services.

A study from the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) found that AI triage reduced repeat appointments by 70%, as patients were matched with the right provider on their first visit; this also enabled family physicians to dedicate more time to patients with complex or time-sensitive needs.

Although it is clear that AI has the potential to make a seismic impact on improving access to care, even the most advanced technologies can’t succeed without the right people and strategies in place. That’s why Amplify Care brings deep expertise in change management and practice facilitation. Their certified facilitators – many with clinical or quality improvement backgrounds – offer trusted guidance and real-world experience, and work directly with primary care teams to ensure the technology is truly serving the people who use it.

“AI and other digital health tools offer exciting opportunities to reimagine how care is delivered,” said Dr. Mohamed Alarakhia (pictured), a practicing family physician and CEO of Amplify Care, formerly known as the eHealth Centre of Excellence.

“But to unlock that potential, we must be thoughtful and measured in how we implement them. That’s where our team can help: by supporting clinicians every step of the way and ensuring these tools lead to better access, better outcomes, and more time for what matters most: caring for patients.”

Originally established in 2014 as the eHealth Centre of Excellence, Amplify Care has evolved from a small regional team into a national non-profit, clinician-led organization.

It rebranded this past year to focus on what matters most: understanding and responding to what clinicians need to deliver care that is efficient and effective.

From the start, Amplify Care has led foundational digital health initiatives – such as implementing eReferral and developing integrated decision support tools – to reduce system inefficiencies, improve patient access, and equip clinicians with best-practice guidance at the point of care.

Amplify Care’s focus has now extended to the exciting and ever-changing world of AI. Over the past year and a half, the organization has played a key role in evaluating and implementing several AI scribe pilots across the country, ensuring these tools are integrated safely and seamlessly into clinical workflows.

These evaluations have shown that AI scribes are proving to be a game-changer; by significantly reducing documentation, clinicians have more time for direct patient care.
